The Thatched Garage started out as a fuel station in 1929. However, in 1987 Neil Digby-Clarke purchased it. He wanted to create a Land Rover Specialist where the customer service is as good as the workmanship. Now skip to the present day, his son, Ben Digby-Clarke continues his legacy.

At the beginning the focus was on Sales & Servicing of Land Rover Series & Defenders.

Fast track a few years on, his son Ben Digby-Clarke saw a gap in the market for quality Defender upgrades, to make the original Defender even more special than it ever was when it rolled out of the factory. This was when the TMD Tuning brand was first started. The idea was to create a bespoke range of upgrades including Led lighting, Grilles, Suspension upgrades, sound proofing and bespoke interiors all to make the Defender a more pleasurable driving experience, these upgrades could either be purchased online or you could bring your vehicle to us to have it professionally upgraded in our Sussex based workshops.

In 2022 we have decided to make the move into the New Defender market, just like the original Defender we have sourced, what we think are possibly the best upgrades to make the New Defender that little bit more special, these upgrades can either be purchased online and fitted at home or by your local garage or can be brought to our Sussex based workshops to have the upgrades professionally installed by us.
